Bernard Adam

Bernard is from Lochore in Fife. Introduced to the chanter by P/M Bob Shepherd MBE at the age of 10, he was soon after taught by P/M Tom Brown, starting out competing with the Lochgelly High School Pipe Band, with whom he won the Scottish, British, European, Cowal and World Championships twice over in 1996 and 1997. Bernard was also pipe major of the juvenile band from 2000-2005. He then moved on to Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band, a natural progression with Lochgelly being a feeder band for Dysart at the time. He played with Dysart from 1998 until 2007 winning various top six places at the Majors and appearing in numerous World Championship Grade 1 finals, until the band had a sabbatical from the competition circuit. He than had a year away from pipe bands but remained a keen spectator. He joined the recently formed Fife Constabulary Pipe Band and played with them for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, placing 8th at the World Championships. He has recently returned to the Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band who plan to return to regular competition in 2011. Bernard has played at many weddings and corporate functions for Scotia Pipers in Fife and beyond.
