Glyn Morris

Now based in Edinburgh, Glyn comes from the village of Kingussie in the Highlands, where he started piping at the age of 9. He played with the famous Vale of Atholl Pipe Band starting in the Novice band and progressing to the Grade 1 band. Glyn spent 6 months living in South Korea playing the pipes for a Korean company importing Scottish products and also for the British Embassy in Seoul. Glyn also spent a year in New Zealand playing in the Manawatu Scottish Society Pipe Band, a grade 1 who are regularly amongst the top 10 placed bands in the World Pipe Band Championships. In 2005 Glyn was the New Zealand Champion Piper. Closer to home he has performed for many different types of events, from weddings to vehicle launches. He has also performed for Prince Charles in Edinburgh and has also played on a number of recordings.

Glyn also plays the Scottish Small Pipes, which are a very different sounding instrument to the Highland Pipes, with a mellow sound well-suited to smaller, more intimate indoor venues.

Glyn can present a show for tour groups to explain the history of the bagpipes and tartan, and demonstrate the workings of the instrument, with audience participation.
