Scotia Pipers

Ed Arnold

I have been playing for nearly 20 years. I have performed with several pipe bands and competed with Ashbourne Pipes and Drums. I have performed at 100's of weddings, birthday parties,  funerals, and high profile events such as the welcoming of guests for a match at Derby football club, a performance at Sheffield Ice (on the rink) for Neil Abel's testimonial ice hockey match (Sheffield Scimitars), I performed throughout the day at the Sheffield Highland Fling (2007) and subsequently appeared in the local papers, I also performed on stage at the IIFA Awards (Bollywood) 2007 at Sheffield Arena in front of 12'500 people. Recent events have included a performance at the Hilton Hotel  at the NEC in Birmingham for a private dinner party, a performance on stage at Huddersfield Town Hall for a rendition of Highland Cathedral with the Lindley Brass Band and a high profile wedding in Ingelborough which was filmed for the TV series The Dales.

I consider myself an experienced and professional bagpipe player. I have a large repertoire of tunes that I play, a high profile reputation for my performances and I put a lot of time into practicing the bagpipes and learning new tunes. I currently teach the bagpipes at the Harrogate Army Foundation College.

"Our wedding was rather unusual with my daughter having a blessing in a cave before walking across the Yorkshire dales to the church in Clapham. We asked a lot from Ed. He serenaded the guests on the hillside and then marched the Bride and Groom into the cave and then a mile back to the church. He never took a break and played with great skill and created an atmosphere that was electric. Musically great and with such a lovely accommodating attitude Ed was an integral part of the wedding. Everyone who attended after saying how beautiful the bride was mentions the Piper. Ed made many friends that day and a lot of people are thinking of arranging ‘do’s’ just to get Ed to play. One of our younger guests Arianna says Ed was wwwwwwwwwwwwicked. Look out for Yorkshire TV’S The dales programme where the Wedding is to be featured." - Sean Onions (Ingelborough)
